Mask Use In the Clinic: The Oregon Health Authority has lifted the public mask mandate for the required use of masks in healthcare settings from April 3, 2023. While the use of masks at Ikigai Wellness will no longer be required as of April 3, 2023, I ask that you consider continuing to wear a mask in the clinic as we often serve sensitive and chronically ill patients.

Please Note:

  • Your provider may have specific requests regarding mask use.
  • If you have been knowingly exposed to COVID or experience any signs/symptoms of COVID or other respiratory illness, I ask that you please contact us at 503-308-8676 with the details of your situation as we may need to reschedule your appointment.

Erin Boyt is a CranioSacral Therapist and personal trainer in Portland, OR who aims to help people connect with their bodies and move with less pain.

She has been teaching movement through a variety of somatic modalities for over 16 years and specializes in foot function, chronic pain, acute injuries, and emotional release. Her interest in movement began when discovered her love for dance at a young age. She studied dance in college but couldn’t ignore that her training focused on aesthetics and technique rather than the design of the body and expression through movement. This led her down a path of continuing her education in biomechanics and CranioSacral Therapy to help people attain movement longevity and heal from chronic pain.

I began my medical career in 2008 as a doctor, obtaining an allopathic medical degree in 2014 in my home country, Barbados. After 12 months of working as a medical intern in a public hospital in Trinidad, I decided to pursue a degree in natural medicine instead of continuing on to a medical residency program. My dream was to pursue and practice a form of medicine that complemented the body’s innate abilities of self-healing, viewed each person as an individual and shared my beliefs in the mind-body connection for healing. It was at NUNM in Portland, OR, where I found my home in Classical Chinese Medicine.

My acupuncture style follows closely with Traditional Japanese techniques which are gentle and incredibly effective. Such techniques include gentle insertive needling, non-insertive needling, moxibustion and gentle bodywork such as sotai, myofascial release and cranialsacral therapy. I enjoy working with a diverse patient population with conditions such as acute and chronic pain, physical rehabilitation (such as neurological conditions, injury, stroke) and the secondary stress, anxiety and depression that can result.

I have chosen not to be a licensed MD in the United States but enjoy using my medical knowledge in understanding my patients from a biomedical perspective, speaking and translating the Western language of medicine, and combining it with my knowledge of East Asian medicine. I am a national board-certified acupuncturist with the NCCAOM and Oregon Medical Board.
